Floorball 2
Batesville Parks and Recreation is proud to host our 2nd Floorball Event on Friday, July 31th, 2026. The event will begin at 5:30 PM at the Batesville Community Center Gym. Floorball is an engaging variation of floor hockey played with a wiffle ball. Our event will utilize a modified 3v3 plus goalie format on a standard basketball court, requiring each team to have four players on the rink (three fielders and one goalkeeper).
Required equipment, including sticks for fielders and protective face masks or helmets for goalies, will be provided. Goalkeepers are not permitted sticks or catching gloves in Floorball. The tournament will be governed by a modified ruleset of the official International Floorball Federation (IFF) Rules.
Event Structure
- This is not a tournament.
- This is a causal event for the community to discover what Floorball is all about.
- Teams will be placed randomly against each other.
- There might not be Referees or Scorekeepers.
- Teams should get 3 Games but is not guaranteed.
Event Rules
Player Eligibility & Roster
- Team Size: 4 players on the court per team (3 Fielders and 1 Goalkeeper).
- Age Requirement: All participants must be 9 years of age or older as of January 1, 2026.
Game Timing
- Match Duration: Three 5-minute periods per game.
- Intermissions: Two 2-minute breaks between periods.
Fielder Regulations
-
- Footwear: Closed-toe athletic shoes (e.g., tennis or running shoes) are strictly required.
- Equipment: Any stick not explicitly provided by Batesville Parks and Recreation must be inspected and approved by the League Director prior to play. “Zorro” blades are prohibited.
- Crease: All players, except the Goalkeeper, must stay out of the crease. This is for Goalkeeper Safety. If there is not a crease then before the game we will decide how big the crease will be.
Goalkeeper Regulations
- Crease & Positioning: Goalkeepers do not have a restricted crease and may play the ball anywhere on their defensive side of the court (though staying near the goal is highly recommended).
- Equipment Limits: Goalkeepers do not use a stick. Webbed gloves (such as baseball mitts) are illegal, though standard fingered gloves are permitted.
- Throw-Outs & Scoring: Goalkeepers may score a goal directly via a throw, provided the ball bounces on the floor before crossing the centerline.
- Goal Maintenance: Goalkeepers are responsible for ensuring their goal cage remains properly aligned and in position during play.
