Batesville Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, Public Meeting #2
June 21, 2016 (Tuesday), at 6:00 p.m.
CITY HALL – 500 E Main St #100, Batesville, AR 72501
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Batesville, Ark. – Please join us for the second public meeting being held to ensure that the Batesville Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan meets the goals and needs of the citizens that will be using the trails and streets on a daily basis. Your input is crucial to the identification of bicycle and pedestrian issues in and surrounding the city to further the vision to create a bicycle and pedestrian network, providing safe and accessible facilities, connecting key amenities to reinforce Batesville’s sense of place.
The meeting will be conducted by the City of Batesville in conjunction with Crafton Tull, the firm chosen to design the Master Plan. A brief presentation outlining the proposed bicycle and pedestrian network begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by an open house format where citizens will have the opportunity to share any concerns they have as pedestrians, bicyclists, and commuters.
Julie Luther, senior planner for Crafton Tull, said, “Hearing what the residents of Batesville have to say is an integral part of the design process. When we know the community’s needs and concerns, we are able to incorporate creative solutions to address them.”
The best way to design and improve a community’s walkability and bicycle connectivity is to speak to the people who are aware of the opportunities and issues that exist in their town. By attending and participating in the public outreach meetings, citizens are able to contribute to the health and safety of the community as a whole.
Representatives from the Crafton Tull Little Rock office will be on hand at the open house and workshop to take questions, ideas and suggestions to be incorporated into the Master Plan.
